An exercise as a performance by Andrea Božić and Julia Willms

‘Hallo, welcome to the insert. This insert is titled Undoing What We Know.

It is an exercise in attention. It is an exercise in looking.

We would like to invite you to take part in it and to do so, you can simply stay in your seats.

The exercise is a proposal for a practice. You can do it wherever you are at any time of day or night, here or in the future.

For the next 15 minutes, we propose that space is not something that we are in but space is something that we are. There is no such thing as empty space - space is always full.”

Undoing What We Know is an exercise in attention as a performance. It includes the training in divided attention and looking in-between. The audience remains seated or standing where they are but move through different spaces and realities internally, through the shifts of attention and sensing. It always incorporates the location, the history of the location and the presence of the audience as part of the work.
