We Live Here 2016

The summer academy WE LIVE HERE is a platform for artistic encounters initiated by Nicole Beutler, Marijke Hoogenboom and Andrea Božić, with a sixth edition in 2016. Artists, thinkers and other creatives meet each other to exchange ideas and share their work practices. During this sixth edition we focuse on ‘time’. Together with Mala Kline and her vision on dreams we explore different aspects of this theme. This year, WE LIVE HERE is invited to organize the academy at Grootlab, the new AHK location for the masters programmes DAS Theatre (former DasArts) and DAS Choreography (former Amsterdam Master of Choreography) in Amsterdam-Noord.

A three day festival with performance makers from Amsterdam

Following COME TOGETHER: Beauty, Bauhaus & The Beast in 2014, performance makers Andrea Božić, Keren Levi and Nicole Beutler now initiate a second festival edition in the spirit of BAU - a platform for dance and performance and curated in collaboration with Lara Staal | Frascati. In collaboration with BAU, Frascati and Veem House for Performance, the Amsterdam’s interdisciplinary scene takes center stage.

The summer academy WE LIVE HERE marks its fifth anniversary! The platform for artistic encounters initiated by Nicole Beutler, Marijke Hogenboom and Andrea Bozic marks its fifth anniversary! WE LIVE HERE 2015 provides residencies for four different Lab’s of artists and thinkers, offering them a possibility to develop and deepen their ideas with the participating practitioners. Next to the different Lab’s there will be HOW DO YOU WORK? conversations with artists present in Julidans, and lectures and presentations open to the public.

Marathon: Eight Hours Do Not Make a Day

On 4 - 5 July 2012, WE LIVE HERE will take form of a 32-hour marathon: Eight Hours Do Not Make a Day.

The title of the marathon is borrowed from Rainer Werner Fassbinder's TV series ‘Acht Stunden sind kein Tag’. With this title, we want to frame the thinking around how we organise our lives. A socialist idea of a day was: 8 hours work + 8 hours recreation + 8 hours sleep. Nowadays, we work never-ending hours, cannot sleep and want our work to be our recreation as well. How do we want to live our days?

We live Here: An Academy 2011

WE LIVE HERE: An Academy – an initiative of Nicole Beutler, Marijke Hoogenboom and Andrea Božić – is a platform that strives to connect the responsibility of the individual with the creative power of the community. It aims for shared inspiration, enthusiasm and new insights.

WE LIVE HERE is a statement and a working title. As artists and cultural workers we acknowledge the need to reappraise the public and other spaces in which we operate.
