We are happy to announce Spectra | Salons are back! Join us for the upcoming series of evenings:

Spectra | Salons are in-disciplinary art evenings across performance and visual art that explore the questions of spectatorship, imagination and spectacle and how they are intertwined, embodied and felt in the era of globalism and digitalisation. Hosted by Andrea Božić and Julia Willms in the TILT studio and the Salon of Marci Panis, Amsterdam from September to December, the Spectra | Salons 2023 feature a series of in-progress sharing sessions, experiments and conversations which follow our and our guests current artistic research processes and questions.

Spectra | Salon: Erotic Fan Fiction, Dreams and Premonitions Agency

Departing from the notion of “unverifiable realities” as a concept through which to attend to and explore the current times, Andrea Božić and Julia Willms | TILT and Veem House have co-curated a programme presenting a constellation of artistic works across performance and visual art. We have invited artists whose work playfully merges gameplay, art and the world from very different perspectives, creating a situation of ‘unverifiable reality’ between these fields. Throughout the program the works on show propose transformative modes of engaging with and re-imagining the world through art while developing new artistic languages and unclassifiable forms of spectatorship.

An evening delving into unverifiable reality with guests: performance by Tchelet Pearl Weisstub, a marathon of Tarot readings by Billy Mullaney, a pseudo-interactive installation by Andrea Božić and Julia Willms and a response and conversation with Konstantina Georgelou.
At Spectra | Studio, Marci Panis, Marcusstraat 52 | 1D, Amsterdam
Saturday, 7 December 2019 at 19.00 hrs

Note (!): Billy’s Tarot readings start already the night before and take place for 28 continuous hours, every half hour from Friday 6 December at 20.00 to Saturday 7 December at midnight. Please check availability via this link and reserve your preferred time slot by sending an email to billymullaney@gmail.com

An intensive evening and an eclectic mix on undoing language (and possibly transcending it!) with guests: live performances by Billy Mullaney and Sarah Vanhee, an installation by Andrea Božić and Julia Willms and an intervention by Laurie Anderson video in dialogue with W. S. Burroughs, with soup and drinks and a conversation.

Spectra | Salon: The Void, the Dream and the Night Sky
Friday, 15 December 2017 at 19.00 hrs

Spectra | Studio, Marci Panis, Marcusstraat 52 | 1D, Amsterdam

Let us gather in a Void – An empty space. A vacuum. An opening. A gap.
Let us gather in a Dream – A space we visit in our sleep.
Let us gather in the Night Sky – The great black vault over the earth.

Let us gather in Vodrenisky.

The Void, the Dream and the Night Sky Spectra | Salon is part of the series of evenings we are hosting this autumn and winter. We open up our studio to guests to explore the porous and fluid spaces we inhabit, produce, embody, imagine, adapt to, demolish, re-construct and share.

Spectra | Studio Opening: The Cube, the Salon and the Aquarium
Friday, 8 September 2017 at 19.00 hrs
Marci Panis, Marcusstraat 52 | 1D, Amsterdam

Let us gather in a Cube – a hollow symmetrical three-dimensional shape with six equal sides.
Let us gather in a Salon – A (with)drawing room in a house where guests assemble and may be entertained.
Let us gather in an Aquarium - a glass-sided tank in which living organisms are kept for exhibit or study.

Let us gather in an Aquaculon.

The Cube, The Salon and the Aquarium is the first Spectra | Salon in the series of evenings we are hosting this autumn. We open up our studio to explore the porous and fluid spaces we inhabit, produce, embody, imagine, adapt to, demolish, deconstruct and share.

The summer academy WE LIVE HERE is a platform for artistic encounters initiated by Nicole Beutler, Marijke Hoogenboom and Andrea Božić. As in previous editions we invite professionals active in different fields of the performing and visual arts to join this temporary community. With WE LIVE HERE we want to keep creating space to come together, to encounter, to work and think together beyond the scope of individual projects or production agendas.

The summer academy takes on a slightly different shape each year. For this edition we invited Mala Kline again to set up a study room where we will together explore emergent language or ways to articulate knowledge that emerges from embodied practices.

On the 18th, 19th & 20th of January 2017, the third edition of COME TOGETHER takes place in the Frascati theatre in Amsterdam. Fifty performance makers from different fields will come together to share ideas and present their work.

What started in 2014 as a mini-festival by initiators/peers Nicole Beutler, Keren Levi and Andrea Božić, to gather and show their work alongside each other, grew into a second edition in 2015 including works by Amsterdam artists of all generations and disciplines such as music, dance and contemporary art.
